Are your visitors being directed to the right place?
When someone visits your website, you usually want them to complete an action such as submit an enquiry form, order a brochure or purchase something. It is important to evaluate your website on a regular basis to ensure that not only is this action working correctly and easy to follow, but that it is obvious.
As websites get added to or amended over the years, it can be easy to lose sight of what is the main goal. From time to time you should sit down, decide on what your main goal or goals are and then following the processes through on your site as if you were a visitor.
Check on pages that there are quick ways to navigate through to different sections of the website without having to keep going back. If for example, you have a fact sheet or a video of a product, then make sure this opens in a new window so when it is closed, the visitor is still on the product page where they first were. This will allow them to order it easily if they wish to do so.
Creating an account area will allow customers to come back and place repeat orders easily without having to input all their personal details again.
