Cloud versions of popular software
When I recently looked at purchasing the latest versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative suite I came across their cloud versions of the software. With both companies they have created a version that allows you to, in essence, lease the programs through the cloud.
This has advantages and disadvantages depending on how much and how many people are going to be using it. The software allows you to have it installed on between 3 and 5 PC’s / tablets / Mobile devices which is great, but the monthly fee you pay only covers you for 12 months at a time. After this time you cannot use the software as it will be automatically cancelled. One of my concerns is that it is still quite a large monthly fee to pay for the software, which after 12 months, you still will not own; actually you will never own it. This got me thinking would it be a better idea to actually take out a loan and buy the software over 12 or 24 months instead.
