Obtaining visitor data
If you have a website you will probably have been approached by many marketing companies that claim to be able to tell you who has looked at your website. This is usually done by tracking IP addresses to find the exact location of the device that has accessed your site.
Companies can charge upwards of £300 per month for this service and you may find that you are tied in for 12-18 months.
Although they may be able to give you this information, it is often not as useful as you may first think. They will usually provide you with a company name, but if that is a large or national company it may be impossible to track down the person you need to speak to within the organisation. If you do manage to track them down, a percentage of people may not like the fact that you have been tracking what they do and actually be put off from using you.
